PECompact License Purchasing
Thank you for your interest in purchasing PECompact. To make PECompact affordable for as large an audience as possible, we have created a plethora of license types and tiers. We believe that through this system the added complexity in ordering is offset by the money saved by our customers. This page will make selection of the appropriate license type as easy as possible. If you need any further assistance, we're here for you.

After you place your order you will receive an email from Bitsum Technologies that provides your login information to our User Services area. Your order is usually processed within 5 minutes. In the User Services area, you can download any version of any product you are licensed.

License Tiers

License Tier Intended Customers License rights and restrictions

 
Freeware / Student Individual developers, students, and hobbyists.
Compressed applications may be distributed freely as long as they are done so without any form of compensation. This license does not require a purchase. However, we encourage users to support PECompact by purchasing the lowest cost Shareware license.
 
Shareware Individual developers and small businesses.
Compressed applications may be distributed freely as long as a trial version exists for public download under the shareware system and no boxed copies of the software are produced or sold.
 
Commercial
Larger companies and other commercial entities.
 		 There are no restrictions to the distribution of compressed applications under this license.

What is considered an 'application' or 'product' by the PECompact license distribution rights?

To be as liberal as possible with our licenses, a single application can consists of many compressed dependencies. We define an application as a set of files packaged together in the same installer.



Which license is for me?

Person 1: I don't want to distribute anything, I just want to compress some files on my computer with PECompact.
You should pick the FREEWARE license.

Person 2: I am an individual developer who releases all my software as freeware.
You should pick the FREEWARE license.

Sole proprietor: I am an individual developer who wants to compress my shareware product(s) with PECompact.
You should pick the SHAREWARE license and then choose the number of products you wish to distribute.

Company: I am a member of a company that wishes to compress its retail software with PECompact.
You should pick the COMMERCIAL license and then choose the number of products you wish to distribute.

 

What is your update policy?

 Updates are free for the first year after the initial license purchase. Subsequently, each additional year of updates can be purchased for 50% of the retail price of your license type. If this is not desirable, unlimited (lifetime) updates can be purchased by paying for your second year of updates at the time of your initial purchase. For example, instead of paying $100 for a license, you would pay $150 for the license. Versions released during the term of your update subscription will always be licensed to you and will always be retrievable from our user services area.



Can I order other ways?

If you wish to make direct payments to Bitsum Technologies, this can be done, but may make order processing less than instantaneous. You can mail us payment at:
